Avenue Addresses

Avenue addresses were designed to allow for easy calculation in finding an address.
Example: 780 1st Ave. is at 42nd ST. Process to calculate: Cancel last digit of address 780 = 78 and then divide by 2 = 39 and then add the key number +3....= 42 Street.

  2. very nice indeed, if you can, publish all those instructions, it may be in my taxi guide book, the one with the out of town fares, but it doesn't hurt to actually see it online. I never use this, I always either rely on my passenger to tell me where they think it is, or check the taxi guide book for the list of addresses for each avenue, or i remember a certain landmark building nearby and guestimate from there, or some combination of all of the above.

  3. Easy for idiot savants. Then you explain that to someone from Chicago and they gape in horror.
